การวิจัย เรื่อง “ บทบาทผู้นำชุมชนกับการแก้ไขปัญหาความขัดแย้งในชุมชน : กรณีศึกษาเทศบาลเมืองบางมูลนาก จังหวัดพิจิตร มีวัตถุประสงค์การวิจัย คือ 1) เพื่อศึกษาถึงบทบาทผู้นำชุมชนในการแก้ไขปัญหาความขัดแย้งในชุมชน 2) เพื่อการศึกษาปัญหาและอุปสรรคของผู้นำชุมชนในการแก้ไขปัญหาความขัดแย้งในชุมชน 3) เพื่อเสนอแนะแนวทางการแก้ไขปัญหาความขัดแย้งในชุมชนของผู้นำชุมชนให้มีประสิทธิผลมากยิ่งขึ้น
ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ความขัดแย้งในชุมชนที่มีทั้งความขัดแย้งรุนแรงชัดเจนและความขัดแย้งที่ไม่รุนแรงชัดเจน ตัวอย่างของความขัดแย้งที่ชัดเจนรุนแรง ได้แก่ ความขัดแย้งระหว่างสมาชิกในครอบครัวหรือเครือญาติ มีสาเหตุมาจากการติดสิ่งเสพติดของสมาชิกบางคน การเล่นการพนัน การแบ่งปันมรดกของครอบครัวไม่เท่ากัน ความขัดแย้งของสมาชิกกลุ่มองค์กรในชุมชน ได้แก่ การแย่งชิงน้ำเพื่อทำการเกษตร สัตว์เลี้ยงไปทำความเสียหายพื้นที่เกษตรของชาวบ้าน การพูดกล่าวร้ายหมิ่นประมาทกัน และเรื่องการเตรียมพื้นที่เพราะปลูกลุกล้ำที่ดินของผู้อื่น ความขัดแย้งเกี่ยวข้องกับการเมืองการปกครอง กรณี การแย่งชิงกันดำรงตำแหน่งผู้ใหญ่บ้าน และเรื่องของผู้ใหญ่บ้านไม่ทำหน้าที่ ผู้นำที่ดีชอบเอารัดเอาเปรียบชาวบ้านที่ไม่ใช่พวกของตน ความขัดแย้งในเรื่องทรัพยากร เช่น มีการบุกรุกตัดไม้ทำลายป่าเพื่อขยายพื้นที่ทำกิน มีการลักลอบตัดไม้ไปขาย สมาชิกในชุมชนใช้สารเคมีในการเกษตรไม่ระมัดระวังเอาไปทิ้งและล้างภาชนะในลำน้ำของหมู่บ้าน ความขัดแย้งที่เกิดขึ้นระหว่างกลุ่มชาวบ้านกับพระสงฆ์และมรรคทายกในเรื่องเกี่ยวกับผลประโยชน์ของวัดความขัดแย้งเรื่องของการศึกษาในชุมชน เช่น พ่อแม่ผู้ปกครองเด็กเล็กในหมู่บ้านม่พอใจที่ผู้นำหมู่บ้านไม่จัดตั้งศูนย์อบรมเลี้ยงเด็กเล็ก สมาชิกในครอบครัวได้รับโอกาสในการศึกษาไม่เท่าเทียมกันและความขัดแย้งระหว่างสมาชิกชุมชนกับทางการ เช่น กรณีชาวบ้านเจรจาเรียกร้องให้ทางการประกันราคาพืชผัก ผลไม้ แต่อย่างไรก็ตามยังมีความขัดแย้งที่ชุมชนไม่ได้รับรู้ เป็นความขัดแย้งระหว่างบุคคลที่ไม่รุนแรงนักไม่แสดงออกให้ปรากฏเห็นชัดเจนโดยเกิดขึ้นในชุมชนเป็นปกติ
