The purposes of this research were to compare students’ English reading comprehension before and after learning through IDEAL problem-solving strategy and to study students’ problem-solving ability after learning through IDEAL problem-solving strategy. The target group was 35 education of students majoring in English class first year at Phetchabun Rajabhat University 1/1, taking the English for teachers course (EDEN101) in the second semester of academic year 2012. The experimental instruments consisted of 10 lesson plans based on IDEAL problem-solving strategy, the English reading comprehension test which was administered to the students before and after the experiment, and a problem-solving abilityassessment form which was evaluated the students after being taught through each lesson plan. The data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and percentile. The finding revealed as follows: 1.After the students were taught through IDEAL problem-solving strategy, their English reading comprehension scores were higher than those of the pretest. 2. After the students were taught through IDEAL problem-solving strategy, their problem-solving abilities were gradually increased.
