การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อประมวลผลการสืบสานประเพณีเทศกาลขนมจีน อำเภอหล่มเก่า จังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์ และเพื่อเผยแพร่ประเพณีเทศกาลขนมจีน อำเภอหล่มเก่า จังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์
ประชากร ได้แก่ ชาวบ้านไทหล่ม อำเภอหล่มเก่า จังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์ จำนวน 55770คน และกลุ่มตัวอย่างได้แก่กลุ่มชาวบ้านไทหล่ม อำเภอหล่มเก่า จังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์ จำนวน 884 คนโดยประมาณขนาดของกลุ่มตัวอย่าง Yamaneเครื่องมือที่ใช้ ในการรวบรวมข้อมูลมี 4ฉบับ คือ ฉบับที่1 แบบสัมภาษณ์ในการจัดทำประชาคม เกี่ยวกับจุดแข็ง จุดอ่อนของกลุ่มชาวบ้านไทหล่ม อำเภอหล่มเก่า จังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์ ฉบับที่2 แบบสัมภาษณ์กลุ่มร้านค้าขนมจีนบริเวณงานวัฒนธรรมไทหล่มขนมเส้นหล่มเก่า ประจำปี 2551 ฉบับที่3 แบบสอบถามความพึงพอใจในการจัดงานวัฒนธรรมไทหล่มขนมเส้นหล่มเก่า ประจำปี 2551 ฉบับที่4 แบบบันทึกผลการประกวดและแข่งขันรายการต่างๆในการจัดงานงานวัฒนธรรมไทหล่มขนมเส้นหล่มเก่า ประจำปี 2551วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยการบรรยาย การแจกแจงความถี่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย และค่าเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า เทศกาลขนมจีน เป็นประเพณีหนึ่งที่สำคัญของอำเภอหล่มเก่าจังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์ ชุมชนแต่ละตำบลมีผู้นำกลุ่มและมีความพร้อมในการสืบสานประเพณีเทสกาลขนมจีน กลุ่มร้านค้าขนมจีนบริเวณงานวัฒนธรรมไทหล่มขนมเส้นหล่มเก่า ประจำปี 2551 ส่วนใหญ่มีการสืบทอดการขายขนมจีนมานานระหว่าง 10ถึง40ปี มีรายได้ดี ซึ่งการขายขนมจีนในงานประเพณีขนมจีน5วัน โดยเฉลี่ยได้กำไรประมาณ 5000บาท ทุกชุมชนสนับสนุนการจัดงานประเพณีเทศกาลขนมจีน ส่วนใหญ่มีความพึงพอใจอยู่ในระดับมาก มีความคิดเห็นว่ารูปแบบการจัดงานปีนี้ดีกว่าทุกปีเพราะจัดยิ่งใหญ่และมีของขายจำนวนมากและอยากให้มีการจัดงานประเพณีขนมจีนต่อไปทุกปี ผู้มาร่วมงานส่วนใหญ่มีความพึงพอใจต่อการจัดงานวัฒนธรรมไทหล่มขนมเส้นหล่มเก่า ประจำปี 2551 โดยเฉลี่ยอยู่ในระดับมาก 4.08 มีความพึงพอใจต่อการจัดงานวัฒนธรรมไทหล่มขนมเส้นหล่มเก่า ประจำปี 2551 การจัดการแสดงแสงสีเสียงตำนานหลวงพ่อใหญ่วัดตาล การประกวดคู่รักยืนยาว การจัดแสดงของนักเรียนอำเภอหล่มเก่า การประกวดชุดอาหารไทหล่ม การจัดประกวดขนมจีนเพื่อสุขภาพ การจัดนิทรรศการวัฒนธรรมไทหล่มขนมเส้นหล่มเก่า การจัดการประกวดการทำขนมจีนประยุกต์ ร้านขายขนมจีนในบริเวณงาน การจัดประกวดตำขี้ปู การจัดแข่งขันกินขนมจีน และจัดการแข่งขันการบีบเส้นขนมจีนที่ยาวที่สุดในโลก การประชาสัมพันธ์เผยแพร่การจัดงานประเพณีเทศกาลขนมจีน ได้ทำร่วมกับอำเภอหล่มเก่า เทศบาลอำเภอหล่มเก่า หน่วยราชการและประชาชนในชุมชนตำบลต่างๆ ของอำเภอหล่มเก่า โดยใช้สื่อหลากหลายรูปแบบทั้งการบอกต่อ สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์ วิทยุ โทรทัศน์ แล้วทำการประเมินผลตลอดการดำเนินงาน และสรุปเป็นรูปเล่มสมบูรณ์ จำนวน 200เล่ม มอบไว้ให้กับหน่วยงานต่างๆทั้งภาครัฐ เอกชน และชุมชน
