การวิจัยนี้เป็นชุดโครงการวิจัย ประกอบด้วยโครงการย่อย 6 โครงการ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสืบค้นฟื้นฟู อนุรักษ์วัฒนธรรมพื้นบ้านไทหล่ม เป็นการสืบสานค้นประวัติหลวงพ่อใหญ่วัดตาล ศาลเจ้าพ่อในชุมชนหล่มเก่า การพัฒนาผ้ามัดหมี่ลายดั้งเดิม การพัฒนาอาหารว่างไทหล่ม การพัฒนาการละเล่นผีตาโม่ การพัฒนางานเทศกาลขนมจีนหล่มเก่าและหาแนวทางการอนุรักษ์จิตรกรรมฝาผนังวัดนาทราย ใช้วิธีการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) ได้แก่ การศึกษาจากเอกสาร การสัมภาษณ์แบบเจาะลึก (In-depth Interview) การสังเกตแบบมีส่วนร่วม (Participatory Operation) การสังเกตแบบไม่มีส่วนร่วม การประชุมเชิงปฏิบัติการ การทดลองปฏิบัติการ และการใช้แบบสอบถาม นำข้อมูลที่ได้มาวิเคราะห์จัดหมวดหมู่ สรุปเนื้อหาแบบพรรณนาวิเคราะห์ (Analysis Description) ปรากฏผลการวิจัยดังนี้
การฟื้นฟู อนุรักษ์วัฒนธรรมไทหล่ม มีการพัฒนาผ้ามัดหมี่พื้นเมือง พบวิธีการย้อมสีธรรมชาติให้ติดทนนาน และศึกษาลวดลายโบราณ พบทั้ง 12 ลายแล้วทอลงในผืนเดียวกัน มีการพัฒนาน้ำเมี่ยงโค้นให้เป็นที่ยอมรับของผู้บริโภคและพบวิธีการเก็บใบเมี่ยงให้สดได้นานขึ้น 6 วัน ได้ชุดการแสดงการละเล่นผีตาโม่ที่มีการพัฒนาเครื่องแต่งกาย เครื่องประดับศีรษะให้มีความประณีตทางศิลปะ ปรับปรุงเครื่องดนตรีและเพลงประกอบการแสดงให้เข้ากับยุคสมัยสนุกสนานเร้าใจและมีการปรับปรุงท่ารำให้มีแบบแผนที่แน่นอนชัดเจน สามารถสื่อความหมายถึงผู้ชมได้ง่าย ได้วิธีการพัฒนางานเทศกาลขนมจีนหล่มเก่าให้เป็นงานทางวัฒนธรรม โดยการสืบค้นนำวัฒนธรรมเด่น ๆ ของแต่ละชุมชนมาร่วมจัดกิจกรรม มีการจัดลานวัฒนธรรม จัดการแสดง การแสดงแสงสีเสียงตำนานหลวงพ่อใหญ่ซึ่งเป็นพระพุทธรูปศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ฟื้นฟูวัฒนธรรมเก่าแก่มาประกอบในบทละคร ได้วิธีการถ่ายทอดความรู้การทอผ้ามัดหมี่โบราณ และการทำเมี่ยงโค้นให้กับกลุ่มอาชีพเพื่อเสริมรายได้ ให้อำเภอหล่มเก่ากำหนดนโยบายให้หน่วยงานท้องถิ่น ฟื้นฟูอนุรักษ์วัฒนธรรม โดยการจัดกิจกรรมทางวัฒนธรรมในงานประเพณีต่าง ๆ ให้โรงเรียนจัดทำหลักสูตรวัฒนธรรมท้องถิ่น
