เนื่องจากได้รับการร้องขอจากชาวบ้านในอำเภอเมืองและอำเภอหล่มสัก จังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์ ให้ทำการวิจัยสรรพคุณของสมุนไพรพญาวานรหรือฮวานง็อก ผู้วิจัยจึงได้ดำเนินการทำสารสกัดหยาบ(crude)จากราก ลำต้น ใบ และทั้งต้นของสมุนไพรพญาวานร นำไปทดสอบกับเชื้อจุลินทรีย์ 4 ชนิด คือ ซัลโมเนลลา อี.คอไล สแตปฟิลโลคอกคัส ออเรียส และชิเจลลา โดยวิธีวงกระดาษกรอง(disk diffusion test) พบว่าสารสกัดหยาบจากใบและทั้งต้น ทำให้เกิดบริเวณใส(clear zone)บนจานเลี้ยงเชื้อซัลโมเนลลาและอี.คอไลเท่านั้น ที่ความเข้มข้น 1:10 โดยเกิดบริเวณใสที่มีเส้นผ่าศูนย์กลาง 2.50 ซ.ม. และ 2.22 ซ.ม. ตามลำดับ พร้อมทั้งทำการสัมภาษณ์แบบเจาะลึก ผู้ใช้สมุนพรชนิดนี้ในการรักษาโรคต่างๆจาก 5 อำเภอของจังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์ จำนวน 200 คน เป็นผู้ชาย 32.86% และผู้หญิง 64.14% มีอายุตั้งแต่ 4 ปี ถึง 90 ปี ประกอบอาชีพเกษตรกร ค้าขาย แม่บ้าน ข้าราชการ พระ และชาวบ้านทั่วไป มีทั้งยากจน ปานกลาง และร่ำรวย พบว่าผู้ใช้สมุนไพรตัวนี้ในการรักษาโรคต่างๆถึง 22 โรค โดยใช้ตามคำบอกเล่าต่อๆกันมา ยิ่งกว่านั้นพบว่า มีเพียง 2 กลุ่มโรคเท่านั้นที่สัมพันธ์กับผลการทดลองในการปฏิบัติการ คือ กลุ่มโรคทางเดินอาหาร และกลุ่มโรคบนผิวหนัง
Due to requests from the people in Amphor Muang and Amphor Lomsak of Phetchabun Province. The requests ask for the Pseuderatherum platiferum(Hoan Ngoc) research. The researcher makes the crude from the roots, leaves and whole plants of Pseuderatherum platiferum(Hoan Ngoc). After that, the crude is treated to 4 bacterias (Sulmonella spp., E.coli, stappyllococcus aureus, shingella sp.) by using disk diffusion test. It is found that, the crude from the leaves and the whole plants can induce only clear zone on Sulmonella spp. And E.coli plates, with 2.50cm. and 2.22 cm. in dimension, respectively. Simountaneously, the researchers conduct deep interview from the local people who use this medicinal plants to treat with any diseases. The population are 200 people in 5 Amphor of Phetchabun, 32.86% in men and 64.14% in women. The age ranges from 4 years to 90 years. The career are farmer, commercial, housewive, government official, monk and ordinary people. They are poor , medium and rich. By rumor, It is believed that these leave plants can cure 22 diseases. Further more, the researchers find that only 2 groups of disease concordant with the results of the laboratory. The 2 groups of disease are food track disease and skin disease.
